The Emerson Valley Public School Library has developed this Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) after consultations with parents, teachers and students. AUP allows for safe, respectful use of our Library Wiki, intended to protect children, allow for courteous use of this shared space, along with providing free exchange of ideas within limits set out in the AUP.

The guidelines for use are as follow:

• Personal information about student(s) will not be given, including phone number, address, full name, email address or online passwords. All sensitive information identifying a child is to be kept private.
• Use of inappropriate language is unacceptable and any such comments will be removed from the site without notice .           
• Threats or harassment by any person(s) using the Wiki are not allowed. Such actions may lead to the suspension of the individual's account.
• Students are encouraged to inform parent or teacher about material that makes them feel uncomfortable.
• Through open dialogue in school and at home, students are asked to never respond to messages that are mean, offensive, or that make them feel uncomfortable. The school will provide parents information on how to talk to their child about this issue.
• Students, parents and staff are encouraged to look at the Wiki as a collaborative effort where we can share and learn from one another.
